Central Christian Academy Reviews

Both of my chldren attended this school from K4 through 8th grade and it prepared them academically, socially, emotionally, and most importantly spiritually for their next level of education. The great teacher to student ratio gave them special attention and the variety of activities for a small school is wonderful. Watching children blossom in this small school environment is truly amazing! From plays to sports to speech and spelling meets, this school offers a variety of experiences for each child. If you have a concern, bring it to the teacher or admininistration and they will listen and do their best to meet your expectations. It has truly been a blessing to the Portsmouth community for 31 years!

This school is a place you can leave your child and know they are safe and cared for by their teacher. It not only helps them grow academically but also spiritually. My child has been in the preschool for two years and loves her teacher and her school...she couldnt be happier. No school is perfect, you're always going to have pro's and cons...no matter where you go. CCA definitely has more good qualities than bad ones!

This is an excellent school. The Teachers, the Principal, and all of thge staff are the most friendly and most caring people you ever will know. They care about ALL the children enrolled in thisschool. You never have to worry about not knowing the events and happenings in the school. They keep you informed via E-mail on all the events, your childs progress, and their school work. My child is leaving at the end of the school year for high scgool. I just wish CCA went to the 12th grade. Private school is expensive, but I'd find a way to keep her at CCA if I could. Your children will thrive in their enviroment

We have really enjoyed having our son at CCA. We absolutely love his teacher. She does a great job of keeping us informed of upcoming events and activities for his class. The school is very involved in community projects and teaches the children the virtue of doing for others. It has been a blessing to have him there.

Not impressed. My son's teacher never, ever returns my phone calls, and the couple of e-mails I have written her this past year have gotten very short, one-line answers that do not help me. His progress reports and report cards are very contradictory, I am not entirely confident in this school's grading system.

As a grandparent and former elementary teacher, I know my granddaughter is receiving an excellent edaution at CCA. Her teachers are kind, caring and dedicated to each child's educational and spirtual growth. My granddaughter has attended CCA for 3 years. She is extremely pleased with her teachers and classmates.

While this school may be better than public school as far as safety, it is not good for learning. The school has a high turn over of staff and disipline is next to nothing. Children are allowed to bully, and nothing is done. Leadership is never present and phone calls are never returned. Think twice before paying so much money for sub par education.

My grandson was in 5K, now going to another school. Each child is given a score of 1-3 each day based on their behavior, attitude, etc. (1 being good) however, I do think this does give the parents a status on the childs progress, the teacher didn't explain in detail what happened to determine why he got that score, making it difficult for a parent to correct any issues. I feel that a teacher should at least write a detail paragraph explaining what happened and at least suggest some helpful statigies to improve the child if he didn't get a good score. This leaves the parent in the dark and difficult to guide that child so that this same issue doesn't happen again.

My son attended and we pulled him out after a short time. Though the roughly $500 per month we paid, including after care, was not extremely high. The curriculam was poor at best. One week out 5K child got 1 homework assignment. 'Read a Book'. In addition, the teacher rarely communicated with us regarding our childs progress in school. She was not available in the morning when we picked him up and would not return phone calls left for her. I would rate this school poor at best. While we search for a better school, we are going with a better alternative to this school, public school.

I am very impressed with the education being offered at CCA especially compaired with our public school neighbors. The difference is trullyI noteable. I look at the tuition cost as an investment in my sons' future. CCA is like home to us. My son has attended for 6 years and I look forward to each new year. My son is shy and the small classrooms and friendly environment has given him alot of confidence in himself. CCA is the best!

K-8 school. Our youngest has attended here for two years -- well worth the tuition. Small class size, Abeka curriculum (preschool/Kindergarten).
